Here is some information on how to book and manage your photoshoot with me. I am located in Nassau County, Long Island, New York-and I do travel & cover the tri-state area.
A little about me, how I got here, and what I do.
I am a mom-with-a-camera (albeit a really good camera), just really enjoying the very fun, challenging world of photography. I have always loved taking pictures. For those of you who know me, know that I more often than not have a camera glued to my face (sometimes to your chagrin). For the last nine years I have been an avid scrapbooker, and have had a few of my layouts published in Creating Keepsakes magazine and idea books. That's kind of where the whole photography thing really took off. I had to get the "perfect shot" for my scrapbook so the page would tell the story I saw in my head. Therfore, my poor boys have been photographed to death. I started out with an Olympus film point and shoot camera (which really took good pictures) and eventually graduated to a "big girl" digital SLR camera about 4 years ago. I enjoyed taking pictures so much and seemed to have an eye for it. A lot of my friends started asking me if I would take pictures of their families. So I did. And it just kinda grew from there. So here I am, with a small business growing. Who would have thought?
I am an on-location photographer who works with natural light- no studio, no studio lighting, and preferably no flash! I love to capture families interacting with eachother in a relaxed, natural kind of way. I like to catch children "in the moment" just being themselves. That's where you get those expressions that are priceless that really reflect their personalities. I have also photographed many "posed" events, where you would want to document a special occasion (a big birthday, a wedding, a communion) but always get in a few candids there too. Those are just my favorites.
How to book your session.
If you email me, at bbeyrer1@optonline.net I will get back to you within 48hrs. We will discuss what kind of photoshoot you are looking for, who is in your family that I will be photographing, and any special ideas you might have on location, props, or posing. If you have small children who nap, please keep their napping schedule in mind when booking your shoot. No one will have any fun if they skip their nap! I prefer to book photoshoots for early in the morning or in the very late afternoon/early evening when the light is most flattering. After we speak and pick a mutually available date and time for your photoshoot, I will call you the day before to reconfirm our time and location. Sometimes, due to unfavorable weather we might have to reschedule. Don't worry, it will happen!
What to do when we get there.
Please feel free to bring along any props you might want in the pictures and as many changes of clothing as you'd like. As for the clothing, solid colors work the best- no busy patterns. Babies look best in no clothing at all, but if you are not comfortable with that, a diaper with diaper cover or a solid onesie looks sweet. If there are a few kids in your family, coordinating outfits look great. They don't have to be exactly the same, just matching. If you have young children, snacks are a big help (just make sure they are white snacks and not messy!-well, unless you want messy in your pictures) to bring along too. Favorite "lovies" are always welcome.
Your photoshoot will generally last from one to one and a half hours. If you have some ideas in mind, please let me know. You know your children much better than I do and if there is something special that they do that you would like captured, I will be happy to try. And please, don't stress! It's supposed to be fun. I used to leave the Picture People in a full body sweat every time I went. I don't want that for you. I might ask you to stand behind me and be idiotic to get your kid to laugh, but I want to see you laughing and playing too. No worries. And just when you think the shoot was a complete disaster, we will come away with something great you didn't even see me take!
After the session.
After the photoshoot is completed, I will begin all the post-processing on your photos. I will use different effects on some of your pictures that I think will work well (ie black and white, mocha, urban acid, color pops) and crop and basic correct where needed. Once I am done with the post-processing, all the pictures will go in an album on my blog (on the left hand side). I will email you and let you know that they are up and you can review them at your leisure. You may also invite friends or family to check them out, just give them the link to my blog (www.bsquaredphotography.typepad.com). Once you go through them, please email me a list of all the pictures you will want (each picture has a code# and letters which is listed on the top of the picture) and any further corrections or changes you will want done (ie. if you'd like to see #1234sc in black and white, or if you'd like the rubberband on your wrist edited out). I will edit those photos and put them in the blog album for you to review.
Once everything is completed to your satisfaction and you send me your final list of picture choices, your pictures will be printed in 4x6 matte finish and placed into a presentation box. All of the pictures that you have choosen will be put on a high resolution disc. The "negatives" on the disc are yours to keep forever and you can make any enlargements or copies at any time. You do not have to use Rockville Camera for your enlargements/copies, but I think their work is fantastic and I highly recommend them (I use them for all of my photos).
Investment.
Please see the pricing page for my fees.
I do not advertise at all, so if you love your pictures, please tell your friends and family. If you are interested in booking a photoshoot with me, please email me at bbeyrer1@optonline.net. Thank you for your interest.
